April 2015 - Order Precedes Multiplication, Miracles and Globalization - pt3

There are seven areas God wants to multiply, if the church and we as believers will do our part. Firstly, there is the multiplication of the Word, secondly, there is the multiplication of disciples (see the February and March eNewsletters) and then the multiplication of leaders. We can be certain that God will multiply leaders if the Church prepares leaders.

In Victory we believe in the importance of the five-fold ministry

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13 NKJ)

Leadership comes out of discipleship
If there are no new disciples made, then there will be no new leaders to develop. Discipleship is like an apprenticeship. Unfortunately many leaders have never been through a proper apprenticeship. For many their gift promotes them but their character is not strong enough to support their gifting. It’s very dangerous to get to the top of the ladder and find out you have a few rungs missing. If you do, you will come down quicker than you went up.

A proper discipleship process is vital. God wants to develop our character, personality and gifting. This takes time, tests and good choices. Joshua was initially Moses servant, then his assistant and ultimately his replacement. Elisha was Elijah’s servant, then his assistant and eventually his replacement.

And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own? (Luke 16:12)

When Moses chose leaders for Israel, he looked for people with four character qualities

Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. (Exodus 18:21)

These four virtues are essential for life-long fruitful ministry. Spiritual leadership should look for these things, and cultivate them, and finally confirm the call of God on the lives of new up and coming ministers (Acts 13:1-3).

When the Early church chose out servant leaders, they looked for people with three distinctive qualities

Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. (Acts 6:3)

Leadership development
Leadership, or lack of it, is the bottleneck of the global harvest. We must grow in our ability to both raise up and attract leaders.

What attracts leaders? Why would a leader sit and serve under another leader?

1.They believe that they can learn and grow under your ministry.
2.If they do grow, they believe there is opportunity for promotion.
3.The leader does things that are big enough to attract big people.

Big vision attracts, builds and releases big leaders. Leaders are attracted to an environment that is challenging, creative and flexible. And leaders are drawn to orderly and trustworthy leadership.

Create an environment that attracts leaders

  • Have a clear vision and set challenging, achievable goals

  • Share the vision and goals effectively

  • Do the vision and fulfill goals

  • Involve people in the accomplishing of the goals

  • Find out who is in your house and match them up with appropriate responsibilities

Many of David’s army were trained in somebody else’s army but later joined David because of his vision, success and good leadership. God wants to multiply Leadership; everything rises or falls on leadership.

In the next few months I will give you the remainder of areas that the Lord wants to multiply. God is in the business of multiplication, but the Church and believers must do their part. Our God given mandate is to be fruitful and multiply, and whatever multiplies the most will have dominion (Genesis 1:28).

Yours for the Multiplication of Leaders for Global Impact and Kingdom Expansion
