August 2021 - Time and Opportunity

desk aug2021 B

Ecc 9:11-12 “The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding. Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance [opportunity] happen to them all."

Every so often an opportunity comes along that has the potential to change everything in a positive or negative way. Covid19 has been one of those scenarios! For those who can see it and are prepared for it - it may prove the opportunity of a lifetime!

Webster’s defines “Opportunity” as a favorable combination of circumstances, time, or place; a unique chance for advancement or progress. As Ecclesiastes says, the winners aren’t the wisest, fastest, or the richest, but those who are prepared for their opportunity, can recognize it when it comes, and who seize their moment.

How Can We Be Prepared?

  1. Be spiritually prepared. Being in the right place at the right moment is a result of walking in the Spirit and being led by the Spirit every day.
  2. Be mentally prepared. Those who are stressed or afraid are too busy looking for a way out to spot an opportunity for advancement. We need to be more opportunity-conscious than problem-conscious.

How Do We Recognize Opportunities?

  1. Knowing where you are going. (Prov 29:18) People with a clear destination are more alert to possible shortcuts that will take them there.
  2. Ask the right questions. Too many people waste time asking questions like, “Why me?” Or, “Whose fault is this?” Instead, we need to learn to ask ourselves, “Is there an opportunity hidden in this problem?”

How Do We Seize Our Moment?

  1. Live Prepared! We can only act swiftly and decisively if we are prepared. Queen Esther was Purified, Prepared, and Positioned and when her opportunity came, she acted. (Esther 4: 14,16)
  2. Live Passionately! Passionate people find the opportunities others miss because while others are waiting for a door to open, they’re up early knocking on every door they can find!
  3. Live Boldly! When your moment comes, “Be strong, and of good courage, and do it!” (1 Chron 28:20). Many people say they have faith, but they have no fight! God gives you the sight, the right, and the might - but you have to have the fight!

Our Victory Vision creates all kinds of ministry opportunities for people to use their God-given gifts and abilities locally, nationally, and internationally. Many people miss real God-opportunities simply because it’s not convenient or comes disguised as hard work and sacrifice.
We have a mission to fulfill, the time is short, and the laborers are few. COVID19 has been a crisis for many but an opportunity for others. Like Esther, we must seize every opportunity to bring deliverance and healing to a lost and hurting world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Yours for the wisdom, the courage, and the faith to seize your God-given opportunities!
