Igniting Evangelism In Your Church
“Do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Tim 4:5
Ephesians 4:11-12 tells us that God gave the Five Fold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to the church so that the church could fulfill its mission. Some are certainly called to be full time evangelists, but every bornagain believer is called to do the work of an evangelist. To do the work of an evangelist means we must begin to care about the millions of unconverted souls who, without Jesus, are about to slip into Hell!
1. Understand why Jesus came and what he has commissioned us to do.
Jesus came for the lost. He said of Himself, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10) Until you catch the heart of a soulwinner, you have not caught the heart of God!
2. Jesus was a friend of sinners.
To the horror of the religious leaders of his day, Jesus actually sought out “sinners” and spent time with them. He said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32) Don’t be a Christian living in a Christian bubble! Be a real friend to the unchurched and include them in your life.
3. We must be very compelling in reaching the lost.
The Lord said, “compel them to come in.” No matter how many are inside our church, there are still many more outside.
“The work of the evangelist is a call of every believer to a certain degree.”
DAVID YEMBA
4. The work of an evangelist must be modeled to the church by church leadership!
The congregation is looking for somebody to follow! 2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Leaders need to be highprofile soulwinners so that their congregations can imitate them. Take members with you so they can see how you do it and follow your example.
JESUS FILM
Victory Missions provided the Jesus Film & projection equipment to Victory Churches in both Kenya and Zambia.
This film tells the story of Christ in the native language of that country. The film is shown in an open square and then one of our leaders preaches and gives people the opportunity for salvation. We have seen hundreds come to the knowledge of Christ because of this project.
Jesus Films for Africa were funded by a partnership of Vcitory Churches USA and Victory Churches UK. Victory Churches of Europe are led by Will & Barb Graham of the UK. Pastor Will delivered a powerful prophetic message to the Victory World Conference 2015!
